Head coach Luke Williams and his players will be seeking to give Swansea City more derby-day memories to savour when they host Cardiff City on Sunday.

The Swans host their south Wales rivals in SA1 having won five of the last six meetings between the teams, including the last contest at the Swansea.com Stadium in March.

Williams and his players’ celebrations following that 2-0 win provided some lasting, iconic images.

And, while the Swans boss and his players know Sunday’s game represents a new chapter in the 112-year rivalry, he would love nothing more than for everyone connected with the club to have a similar experience this time round.

“The thing that is hard to describe is that in those moments you feel like every single person in the ground is connected,” said Williams.

“It’s very hard to explain, but that’s how it feels. Everyone is experiencing exactly the same thing at exactly the same time.

“It’s a very powerful feeling, and we are desperate to win the game. We are desperate to win every game because that’s what being at the club should be about, we are desperate to win because it is a derby and we know that it means.

“We are desperate to win because we want to experience that ecstasy again, so there are many reasons why we want to have a great performance and a great day.

“I know how much this means here, how much it means to me, to the players and, most importantly, how much it means to our fans, because I am pretty sure I met every single one of them last time.

“We cannot guarantee anything, you can play great and lose or you can play poorly and win. That’s the nature of football sometimes.

“But what I can guarantee you is, we know what it means.”
