Luke Williams | We want a better performance and outcome
Swansea City head coach Luke Williams expects a better performance and result from his side when they host Gillingham in the first round of the Carabao Cup tonight (7.45pm).
The Swans host the League Two Gills under the lights at the Swansea.com Stadium looking to bounce back from defeat at Middlesbrough on the opening weekend of the Championship campaign.
Williams has made clear he is not planning wholesale changes to his starting line-up as Swansea seek a first competitive victory of the campaign.
And has made clear he wants to see a showing that is a considerable step forward on that produced on Teesside.
“We are going to make sure we prepare correctly, we have been in on Sunday and on Monday to make sure we get the work in and be ready,” he said.
“We need to try and play better, it is our first home game back in front of our fans and we need to make sure we play well and win.
“It is a different competition but that does not change anything. I want us to win the game and I want us to produce a positive performance.
“We will make changes as it is a three-game week, but we won’t be making changes for the sake of it because we want players to keep playing alongside each other and build those relationships on the pitch.”
