Luke Williams | We need to show the bravery to get ourselves in the fight
Head coach Luke Williams has urged Swansea City to show bravery and make sure they are in the fight when they host in-form Southampton at the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon (12.30pm).
The Swans return to SA1 for Williams’ first home league game in charge, having enjoyed a victory over Morecambe in the FA Cup and then taken a point at Birmingham City last time out.
They host a Saints side who are club-record equalling 20 games unbeaten in all competitions under former Swansea boss Russell Martin.
Williams acknowledged the high-flying Saints make for dangerous opponents, but he wants the Swans to be ready to take the game to their opponents and make the most of the opportunities that come their way in front of a partisan home crowd.
“We have to try to have a tussle to dominate the game, but there are different ways to dominate a game,” he said.
“I am not saying we have a gameplan where Southampton never touch the ball because we pass it around them like mannequins, because that is just ridiculous.
“But we have to be really focused and brave enough to try and find our moments in the game.
“We know they will be a huge threat and we know they are a good side, but we have to be brave enough to try and find a way to get a foothold in the game and establish ourselves.”
