Swansea City may not have rounded off the season in the manner they wanted, but head coach Luke Williams is positive about what lies ahead in what will be his first full campaign in charge.

The 1-0 defeat against Millwall at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday ended the Swans unbeaten run of four matches, with Williams acknowledging his side had lacked accuracy in the final third.

But their form over the final 12 games of the season was on a par with a number of teams in the upper reaches of the table.

Swansea picked up 18 points during that time, the same as Leeds United, one fewer than West Bromwich Albion, and two fewer than Southampton and champions Leicester City.

With a full pre-season ahead – with Williams having been appointed midway through the 2023-24 campaign – the former Notts County boss is confident of being able to kick on in 2024-25.

“We all feel like we have moved forward,” he said.

“We have probably deserved a little bit more from some of the performances, but there have also been a couple of times where we have let ourselves down.

“We have been honest about that as a group, and I think overall we have moved forward.

“Now we have to try and build on that over the summer because it is incredible to be at this club and it comes with a huge responsibility, because this is a wonderful club.

“So we have a big summer, we are going to have a tough pre-season so the guys need to rest a little bit now.

“It has been a hard year for them physically and hopefully we can come back fresh and excited for a new season.”
