Luke Williams | We have to stay on the front foot in games

First team
Luke Williams and Ryan Harley

Luke Williams feels Swansea City have plenty to take forward from their draw at Birmingham City, and will urge his players to keep getting on the front foot.

The Swans drew 2-2 at St Andrew’s, having been on course for three points until Jordan James’ late leveller.

Head coach Williams felt his side had shown positive signs over the closing stages of the first half and much of the second half in the west Midlands.

But he wants his players to be empowered to continue to play positive attacking football, and not drop off to defend a lead as he and they work together,

“We have plenty we can take forward. It’s another game which gives us more information, and which is going to be our body of work for the week ahead,” he said.

“We will dissect the game, pick it apart and show them where we can improve and what we can do.

“I think one of the things we will look to improve and be clear on is to continue to be positive.

“I feel we made a classic mistake where you get tired, the opposition commit men forward and you fall in to trying to protect the lead when what we really want to do is keep playing.

“If you have played in a fashion that is good enough to give you the lead, then you don’t need to go away with it once you are there.”
