Luke Williams | We have to believe in what we are doing and be aggressive
Luke Williams has urged Swansea City to be aggressive in their actions in the final third and keep the belief in how they are playing when they face Oxford United this afternoon (12.30pm).
The Swans face the U’s at the Kassam Stadium in the early kick-off looking to end a frustrating winless run where they have taken three points from a run of games where they have had chances to gather far more.
Head coach Williams admitted the sense of anger and frustration has been tangible at the training ground this week.
And, as they face an Oxford side who are unbeaten on home turf, Williams wants his team to continue to be ready to play with the same identity they have shown in order to find that clinical touch.
“We know this will be a tough game. Oxford have done brilliantly well stepping up to the level. I was at their play-off semi-final against Peterborough and they are a really well-organised team,” he said.
“They have some real quality, players like Ruben Rodrigues who I know well and who scored some important goals for them.
“It will be tough, they are an ambitious club and team and are coping very well with the step up to the Championship.
“We have been competitive in every game this season. We could have come away with more points, and that’s a frustration, but that’s the emotion we should be feeling.
“We need to attack the box aggressively, there is no magic wand we can wave, but if we can defend as well as we have done, have control of games as we have done, and be aggressive in our actions in the final third I believe the outcome can change.
“We have to concentrate on that and not rip everything up when there is a lot of good.”
