Luke Williams | We have to be ready to fight tooth and nail
Head coach Luke Williams wants Swansea City to keep the intensity levels high and be ready to fight tooth and nail when they face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this afternoon (3pm).
The Swans take on the Owls looking to build on an excellent performance last time out against Cardiff City.
Williams has spoken regularly of his desire to see his side get on the front foot with and without the ball, and felt the showing against Cardiff was the clearest indication of that in his tenure to date.
And, with the Owls sitting in the relegation zone ahead of Friday’s game, Williams wants his side to keep raising their levels.
“I think it’s fair to say the players had been showing a trend of playing on the front foot in the games leading up to the derby, but that game was a good example of playing on the front foot,” he said.
“This is something that we want to become a trait and something we’re recognised for. It’s important to us that we want that to become an identity of ours.
“We will need that intensity on Friday. I expect them to fight tooth and nail for every inch of football pitch.
“We are fine with that, we are expecting that and we are ready for that and we want to do the same.
“Our performances on the road have been excellent for the majority of the games, and I expect a big performance again.
“We should be measured up against those better performances and we should not fall below that standard.
“They will have motivation, but so do we. No-one has laid down for us. Everyone is trying to win games, no-one wants damage limitation everyone wants to take points off each other and we are no different.”
