Head coach Luke Williams admits he is frustrated Swansea City did not take more points from their last block of Championship fixtures, but hopes his side can kick on and continue to build after the international break.

The Swans suffered just one defeat in their five games between the September and October windows, winning two and drawing two and suffering that solitary reverse against a Sheffield United side boasting the only unbeaten record in the EFL.

Williams admits his side had the chances to take more than their eight-point haul from the quintet of games but, as the hard work continues at Fairwood, is firmly looking forward to a short, sharp run of six fixtures in three weeks before the November international break.

“I think in the last block of fixtures we have had some very tough away games, some tough home games too, and I think we could have come away with a healthier return in terms of points,” said the Swans boss.

“I don’t think it’s been too bad and we have shown some good signs in that period, but there is certainly a bit of frustration in there.

“We have the international break now, some players have accumulated a lot of minutes in a short space of time so we need to make sure they recover properly during this period.

“But we still have to be ready to go to work, we do lose a few players to international duty. On the one hand that is great because we want them to get that experience and we are proud of them representing their countries, but on the other hand we would like to be working with them.

“We will look to make the most of the time we have and hopefully we can make sure this next block of games is excellent for us.”
