Luke Williams urges Swansea City to show resilience on their travels
Luke Williams has challenged his Swansea City side to carry the resilience shown in their victory over Norwich City, when they travel to face Coventry City on Saturday.
The Swans head to the CBS Arena on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win over the Canaries, where head coach Williams side saw his side show energy and intensity with and without the ball.
Swansea now have seven points from their five Championship games so far this campaign, but are yet to pick up a point on their travels.
A trip to face a Coventry side who have reached the play-off final and FA Cup semi-finals over the last two seasons will represent a tough test, and Williams wants his players to back up the effort they put in against the Canaries when they head to the west Midlands.
“Last weekend was a properly, properly tough game, and we really earned the points,” said Williams.
“I hope it gives us a base to build from, that’s certainly what we said to the players in the dressing room after the game last weekend.
“I challenged the group because I felt we had started a couple of games poorly and been overwhelmed, and that is not an easy thing for professional footballers to hear.
“It got the response we wanted, there was a lot of character from the players, some of whom are still settling in and adjusting to the Championship.
“We now need to try to learn from our previous away games and how we can do better. We have had two 1-0 defeats against very good sides, so we have not been a million miles away.
“But we need to be more resilient on the road, that is clear.”
