Luke Williams | Tough Norwich assignment a perfect test
Luke Williams has urged his Swansea City side to continue their recent progress when they visit play-off hopefuls Norwich City this afternoon.
The Swans head to Carrow Road off the back of three wins and three clean sheets in succession.
Victories over Stoke City, Rotherham United and Huddersfield Town saw Williams’ side score eight goals without conceding, and they have the fourth-best record in the Championship over the last 11 games.
However, Norwich’s form has also been strong. The Canaries are unbeaten on home turf since November and have the chance to wrap up their top-six place with a week to spare.
Head coach Williams knows his side will face a Norwich team highly-motivated with the backing of a big crowd on home turf, which is why he thinks this fixture presents a great test of his side’s development.
“It’s perfect for us, we want to be in a game and the opposition are looking to secure a play-off position. Last week Huddersfield were fighting for their Championship status, which suited us, as well,” he said.
“We are playing good opposition, it will be tough, they are in good form and have full motivation.
“Their home form has been excellent, we know the challenge is very tough and we have to keep trying to improve our performances.
“We are getting somewhere, but this will be a bigger test than we have faced for a few weeks now.
“We have a chance to win four in a row. We have had three wins, and it’s not like we flipped a coin and don’t know how we won those games.
“We are off the back of three victories, three clean sheets, eight goals scored. In the last two games we did not allow a shot on target.
“We dominated many of the numbers, the team is playing in a good way, and we need to continue that the best we possibly can.
“If we can it will create a new identity for us and different feeling around the stadium and around the squad.”
