Luke Williams | There is added emotion, so we have to make sure our focus is right
Luke Williams has urged Swansea City to embrace the emotion of Sunday’s lunchtime meeting with Bristol City, but show the concentration and focus to produce a positive performance at Ashton Gate (12.30pm).
The Swans make the relatively short journey to take on the Robins having taken seven points from their last three games.
For Williams the fixture sees him return to a club where he previously coached, although there will certainly be no split loyalties for the Swansea head coach.
The Swans boss knows the game will carry an extra edge, but wants his players to show the composure to go with the required aggression and intensity.
“There are no extra points, but the emotion is very different and you recognise that is part of games like this. They are different,” said Williams.
“We need to make sure we remember to concentrate and focus on everything that makes a good performance, and hopefully come away with the points and the bragging rights, which would be the perfect way to end the week for us.
“They have a really modern-thinking manager, they will be organised and have several different tactics to cause problems for us when we have the ball and when they have the ball.
“It will be difficult tactically and physically. We expect that from a tough Championship game, but with some added emotion around it, so it should be very enjoyable.
“We have won two games and drawn one, but we have to keep going, that’s what we are learning.
“We have to make our standards as high as possible and grow game on game because, unless we keep doing our jobs, it’s impossible for anything else to change as we move forward.”
