Luke Williams proud and excited ahead of Swansea City bow
Swansea City head coach Luke Williams will savour an "incredible feeling" when he leads the side for the first time in this evening's FA Cup third-round tie against Morecambe at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Williams was confirmed as the new Swans' boss on Friday, and he immediately takes charge as the League Two Shrimps visit SA1 for the tea-time kick-off.
His appointment marks the former Notts County coach's second stint with Swansea, having previously been an assistant during the 2021-22 campaign.
He has fond memories of that period, but is ready to create more of his own.
"It will be an incredible feeling to be in charge of this club at our stadium," he said,
"I have some fond memories of being on the touchline and in the dug-out here before, there's a south Wales derby that stands out. I think I had goosebumps every five minutes during that game.
"I was a wreck after it, but it was a beautiful experience and I really hope we can create more moments like that.
"We want to have a team that tries to attack and wants to score goals, while being mean defensively, we know there is more than one element to the game and we don't want to be one-dimensional.
"We want a team to make the supporters excited and the work to try and deliver that starts now.
“Whoever we were playing, we want to get off to a positive start. We were competing against each other just last week, but I recognise a good team when we see one, so we will have to play well against Morecambe.”
