Head coach Luke Williams has told his squad every player must be ready to play their part as they get set to start a hectic run of festive fixtures against improving Queens Park Rangers at the Swansea.com Stadium (3pm).

The Swans and their Championship rivals face a demanding run of four games in just 10 days over the holiday period.

Christmas and New Year fixtures have always been a special part of the British football calendar, and it is one Williams and his squad are looking forward to.

But, as they get set to face a Rangers side who have enjoyed an impressive upturn in form over recent weeks, that enjoyment will need to be mixed with discipline and diligence.

“Every player has to be ready, I have to make sure they are ready in many different ways, that we train together and make sure everyone gets the information and the repetitions to practice,” said the Swans boss.

“We also have to make sure they are in a good place physically, because some are going to need to recover more, or others are going to need to work harder because of the schedule.

“It’s a busy, busy time, so you have to train and recover correctly.

“We have an opportunity to try and perform at a really good level, that has been successful for us. Performing in a certain way has been successful against the teams below us, the facts are there to see that.

“We are about to face games against teams we have been doing well against, so let’s see if we can be consistent in our performance.

“They have had an upturn in form, and they could be an example of a team who are in a false position.

“Potentially the second half of the season could be very different for them. Again, we know the potential of the opposition we are facing and we know they are better than their league position suggests.

“We have to be on our guard for that and try and make a performance that is of the calibre we have seen this season that has brought us good results.

“We have to prepare properly for this game because it is a unique fixture after the festivities and a change in people’s routines, but it will be a really difficult game because they are in a very different moment.”
