Luke Williams awaits news on Gonçalo Franco injury
Luke Williams and Swansea City will wait to discover the extent of Gonçalo Franco’s facial injury after the midfielder was forced off in the second half of the dramatic 2-1 win over Luton Town.
The Portuguese had got the Swans back on level terms at the Swansea.com Stadium, bundling home a 38th minute equaliser for his second goal in as many games to cancel out Carlton Morris’ opener.
But, eight minutes into the second half, he was caught by Mark McGuinness as he rushed to press the Luton defender and received treatment with blood flowing from his mouth.
He attempted to continue, but was forced off in tears a few minutes later, and head coach Williams revealed Franco had gone to hospital after a section of teeth in his lower jaw had been displaced in the collision.
“When you are that committed and that aggressive into the challenge the unfortunately these collisions can happen,” said the Swans boss.
“His bottom row of teeth are now in a different place to where they were, it’s very tough and we are very concerned about him, but he is in good hands and we will give an update when we know a bit more.
“He is such a tough guy, he is so committed to the club and he has put his body on the line today.”
