Luke Cundle | I enjoyed the goal but I know I have to perform every time I'm on the pitch
Swansea City new boy Luke Cundle is determined to make the most of every minute he gets on the pitch, and hopes victory of Hull provides the base for Russell Martin’s side to kick on after the international break.
The 20-year-old, on loan from Wolves, was on the scoresheet against the Tigers, capitalising on a calamitous defensive mix up between goalkeeper Nathan Baxter and defender Tobias Figueiredo before firing into an empty net for his first senior goal.
It was part of an impressive, energetic and mature performance from the youngster, who was introduced following Joe Allen’s injury in the first half, and he was named man of the match.
In addition to his goal, there were a number of nice touches – including a brilliant first-time pass to free Joel Piroe – and plenty of purpose from Cundle, who has top-flight experience under his belt from his time at Molineux.
And he hopes there is plenty more to come, both from himself and Swansea City, after the lift of three points and a clean sheet.
“The win gives us a big boost. Probably in the last few games we’ve not quite got the points we deserve we feel,” said Cundle.
“It’s a massive boost to get the three points. Hopefully now we can kick on and start moving up the table.
“I feel it has been coming. The lads have been playing well and we got our rewards this time.
“It was obviously a great feeling scoring at home in my first proper run out. I thought the lads played well with the way they kept the ball, controlled the game for us, really helped us going forward.
“Of course I am pleased to score but I don’t really set targets for myself in that kind of way. “What I do know though is when I go out onto the pitch I have to perform, and I try to do my best. If goals come, then that’s just a bonus, but I want to settle in quickly and contribute.
“All the lads have been great at the club. The gaffer and all his staff have been great too. I’m really enjoying it here at the moment.”
