Lucy Finch | We pulled together and got the win as a team
Swansea City Women’s defender Lucy Finch believes her side's togetherness was key to their 2-1 win over Pontypridd United Women in the Genero Adran Premier.
The Swans took the lead after Robyn Pinder’s low ball forced an own goal from Pontypridd captain Clare Daley.
Katy Hosford made it 2-0 just after the break as a stunning strike from a tight angle took her to 10 league goals for the season.
Ffion Simmonds pulled one back for the hosts as she headed home from a free-kick, but the Swans held on to make it 12 wins from their last 13 games.
Finch was delighted that the Swans could continue their perfect start to 2024 and feels the connection between the squad was key to securing the three points.
“A win is a win at the end of the day, we’ve got three points and that’s all that matters really,” said Finch.
“In the second half the wind and the conditions were against us, in the first half we dominated but in the second half we made it hard work for ourselves.
“We had planned for their set up in training, we knew what to expect and we counteracted it well in the first half, but we pulled together, and we got the win as a team. That togetherness is so important.
“Regardless of who we are playing, the focus is on getting three points, we will take that into the next game and we will look to keep the run going.
“Confidence is high throughout the team, winning every game in 2024 so far is good and we will take the confidence that it brings into our next game.”
