Luciano: This can be the perfect boost
Supersub Luciano Narsingh believes his last-gasp winner at Watford can give Swansea City the perfect survival boost.
The Dutch international picked the perfect moment to score his first goal for the Swans nearly 12 months after joining from PSV Eindhoven.
Narsingh was former manager Paul Clement’s first signing back in January.
But he had to wait for the arrival of new boss Carlos Carvalhal to open his account as the Portuguese made his dugout debut.
Andre Carrillo had put Watford in front in the 11th minute.
It looked like being enough to give Watford all three points until Jordan Ayew equalised in the 86th minute and Narsingh pounced in the last minute of normal time to move the Swans off the bottom of the Premier League.
“It was a great feeling to not only get the winner, but also to score my first Premier League goal,” beamed Narsingh.
“I feel I have had a lot of chances this season, so it was great to finally get my first goal for Swansea.
“It was a very difficult game. We were losing too many balls and not playing well. But we managed to turn it around and showed great character.
“We told each other that we have to keep fighting to get a result. Thankfully the two goals came.
“It was a very dramatic end to the game for us and it felt great to score in front of our fans.
“This is a very important win for us. We have not won away for a long time and we needed this to lift us off the bottom. I hope this can give us a boost as a team.”
Narsingh also paid tribute to Carvalhal, adding: “He has given us confidence. He wanted us to express ourselves and dribble with the ball. That gave me the confidence to go out and play more.
“We know this victory does not change everything, but we must keep fighting for more results like this going forward.
“It means we can go into the Tottenham game on Tuesday night with confidence.”
