Loan Watch | The season so far
Swansea City have five players out on loan this season, here we take a look at how they’ve been getting on in the early part of the 2023-24 campaign.
Brandon Cooper
Centre-half Cooper joined Leyton Orient has joined on loan until January 2024, the 23-year-old linked up with the newly-promoted O’s in League One alongside former Swan, Darren Pratley.
The Swans academy product has started in five league games for Orient, the most recent of those starts coming in their dramatic late win over Reading at the weekend.
Joel Cotterill
Midfielder Cotterill is with Stockport County for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.
The 19-year-old has made two League Two appearances so far this season. He assisted Isaac Olaofe’s 89th minute equaliser to seal a 3-3 draw against Crawley Town on September 2.
He made his second EFL appearance in County’s dominant 5-0 over newly-promoted Wrexham at Edgeley Park.
The Wales age-grade international made his first start for the club in the first round of the Cheshire Senior Cup, which saw County bow out following a 2-0 defeat to Tranmere Rovers on September 26.
Lewis Webb
Goalkeeper Webb has enjoyed an excellent start to his spell with Caernarfon Town, with who he is on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The 22-year-old - who joined the Swans in 2019 from Merthyr - made his debut for Caernarfon in their 2-1 win over Newtown on August 18.
Since then, Webb has gone on to start every league game for the Canaries and won a number of plaudits for his showings, keeping two clean sheets.
Ben Blythe
Defender Blythe is another Swans player spending the season in the Welsh leagues, having joined Cymru Premier side Barry Town on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 season.
The 21-year-old linked up with the newly-promoted side in hope of gaining experience at senior level.
The former Doncaster Rovers youth product has so far made four starts.
Josh Thomas
Striker Thomas joined Port Vale on a season-long loan ahead of the 2023-24 season, and the 20-year-old has wasted no time making an impression.
He made his EFL debut in the Valiants' 7-0 defeat to Barnsley on the opening day of the season, and the Welsh youth International has netted goals in the EFL Cup against Fleetwood Town and Sutton United respectively. He has started all of Vale's games in the competition, helping them reach the last 16.
The Swans academy product made his first senior start in professional football in a 1-0 win against Reading on August 12, and managed to bag an assist for the only goal of the fixture.
