Daniel Alfei made his first start for Mansfield as they edged a five-goal thriller in League Two.
Alfei, who turns 24 on Tuesday, made his third appearance for the Stags in their 3-2 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.
The right-back was pushed into midfield for the second half, impressing as he went close to opening his Mansfield account with a couple of efforts on goal.
Alfei featured for the full 90 minutes as victory moved Mansfield up to fifth in League Two.
At the other end of the table, Connor Roberts played for Yeovil, who remain in the dropzone after Portsmouth grabbed a late equaliser at Huish Park.
Roberts made his 40th appearance of the campaign for Darren Way's Glovers, who had led ten-man Pompey with six minutes to go.
Remaining in League Two, Ryan Hedges started as Stevenage were beaten 1-0 at Carlisle.
The forward made his fourth appearance for his loan club, who are nine points off second-bottom Yeovil.
In Scotland, Alex Samuel made a brief appearance off the bench as Morton beat Dumbarton 2-0.
He was introduced in the final few minutes for Morton, who sit sixth in the table - four points off fourth-placed Raith Rovers.
In French Ligue 1, Franck Tabanou wasn't involved in St Etienne's 1-1 draw at Marseille, who scored a 90th-minute equaliser.
The left-back did, however, play the full 90 minutes earlier in the week as St Etienne beat Basel 3-2 in their Europa League round of 32 first leg.
Matt Grimes is still waiting to make his Blackburn Rovers debut as he was cup-tied for their FA Cup defeat to West Ham.
Grimes had been among the substitutes for the midweek Championship win over Fulham, but he failed to come off the bench.
He could, however, feature in Wednesday night's trip to promotion-chasing Derby.
Meanwhile, Gerhard Tremmel was an unused sub as Werder Bremen were beaten 3-0 at Ingolstadt while Eder missed Lille's 1-0 win over Lyon through injury.
