Lifelong Swans fan Caio Ifans relishing under-21s' chance after stadium debut
Lifelong Swans fan Caio Ifans relished running out at the Swansea.com Stadium to make his Swansea City Under-21s' debut in the 3-1 victory over Bristol City on Saturday.
Ifans - a Wales youth international - has featured heavily for the under-18s this season, playing a pivotal role in their Professional Development League Cup campaign.
Last Wednesday he played 120 minutes for the age-grade side in the final at Millwall as they suffered a agonising defeat.
The 16-year-old was then introduced as a substitute in the 65th minute at the stadium on the weekend, and he savoured the moment of playing at his home ground for the first time.
"It was such a great experience, it was great to be with the boys and even better to get the win," said Ifans.
"I've learnt a lot from just being around the environment with the under-21s, and training with the boys. Hopefully, there'll be many more opportunities to come.
"It's such a great achievement for me, still being 16 and playing at the Swansea.com Stadium for the first time is special, as I'm a huge Swans fan.
"The experience has helped me put the disappointment of the cup final defeat behind me, and that was actually the first time I've played at a stadium, so to play at two in a week is amazing.
"I've got my GCSEs coming up soon, which is what I'm focused on. But, after those, I would love more opportunities in the summer."
