Liam Smith delighted to open Swansea City scoring account
Liam Smith was delighted to get his first goal in Swansea City colours as he played a vital part in the under-21s' victory over Watford at Vicarage Road on Friday afternoon.
The Swans had surged into a 2-0 lead at the home of the Hornets, with Smith and Lincoln McFayden on the scoresheet.
However, the Hornets responded after the break. Adrian Blake striking twice in quick succession to level matters.
But Josh Thomas grabbed the winner to secure a 3-2 victory for the Swans.
Former Manchester City academy prospect Smith opened the scoring with a fine finish and was then heavily involved in the build-up for McFayden's goal.
"It was a great feeling to score my first goal, I loved it. It was a good game, the boys dug deep and we produced a really good first-half performance," said Smith.
"In the second half, we fell off a little bit, but we came together and Josh [Thomas] got the winner.
"That's what I'm here to do and I hope that I can continue to provide goals and help my team-mates score goals. I'm really happy with the way the game went, and hopefully we can keep pushing on.
"At the end of the day, we got the win. Our overall performance was decent, there are things we need to work on with our second-half showing but we've got the three points.
"It's been a great few weeks for me, I'm just taking every day as it comes and I'm really enjoying my football at the moment. The lads and the staff have been brilliant."
