Liam Cullen | We really needed that win and performance

Liam Cullen hopes Swansea City’s comprehensive victory over Blackburn Rovers can prove the spark for a stronger end to the season.

Cullen was on the scoresheet as the Swans secured a first home win of 2025, with Zan Vipotnik and Myles Peart-Harris also finding the net in a 3-0 victory over a Rovers side who had entered the weekend sitting fifth in the Championship table.

The result came at the end of a week where Luke Williams had departed the club, with Alan Sheehan taking over as caretaker head coach, and Cullen hopes the manner of the display can provide a platform to improve.

“That was a massive three points and it was a win we really needed,” said Cullen

“It has been a tough period, not just the last week but the last few weeks to be honest.

“We really needed a reaction, and we have got one and it means so much.

“The crowd were right behind us, and we spoke in the week about needing to give them something to cheer and starting the game well.

“I felt like we did start on the front foot, and we created so many chances that it could have been more.

“I hope we can take this into the rest of the season and finish strongly.”

Cullen’s first-time finish from a Peart-Harris cross proved to be Swansea’s third and final goal of the contest, and it took his tally for the season to 11; the best return of his career to date in a single campaign.

But the Wales international was frustrated he did not score more than the one goal.

“I was fuming I missed a chance in the first half, where I just saw it a little bit late,” he said.

“But when Myles gets into a position like that I know he looks for me, and I think that is something like the fourth time he has picked me out and I have managed to put it in the net.

“I was really happy to add to my tally and contribute to a win.

“I have not set myself any targets for the season in terms of numbers, at the end of the day I want to score in every game.

“That’s what has got me to this point and I just want to score as many goals as I can for this club.”
