Liam Cullen | We cannot allow our levels to drop
Liam Cullen admitted the home dressing room was a sombre place to be after Swansea City relinquished a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Sunderland at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Wales international Cullen had helped get Luke Williams’ side off to an ideal start, continuing his rich vein of form with a stunning 17th-minute free-kick that had given the hosts a 2-0 advantage.
But Dan Ballard’s header brought Sunderland back into the game before the interval, and the Wearsiders were relentless in the second half, eventually taking the spoils as Dan Neil rocketed home a fantastic strike and Jobe Bellingham turned in the winner.
And Cullen says the drop off in intensity – which was also highlighted by head coach Williams – is something Swansea cannot afford to do.
"That’s something that we cannot allow to happen,” said Cullen.
"We had the aim to start well, we did that, got the two goals, and then what happened in the second half is something that we should not allow.
"We didn't really play when we were ahead and they got back into the game and then, as soon as we get one goal behind, we play again.
"We said it after the game, we can't do that, it can’t keep happening. It's something we've got to review. We've got to dust ourselves down and make sure we improve from it.
"We are absolutely devastated in the dressing room, but we have to dust ourselves down quickly because there are a lot of games coming up very soon."
