Liam Cullen | It's a huge game for me personally, and the City

Lifelong Jack Liam Cullen admits the south Wales derby will always carry a personal significance for him as he looks to help Swansea City to victory in the fixture.

Cullen, 25, first joined the Swans as an eight-year-old, and has come all the way through the academy ranks to first-team level.

And he's eyeing a fourth goal, in four starts in the derby clash, having not featured in the away fixture last campaign, with that memory adding an extra bit of motivation for the Kilgetty product going into Saturday.

"It's the game everyone looks for as soon as the fixtures were released. You look for the first game, and then the reverse fixture." said Cullen.

"It's an exciting one, hopefully we can go there and get a positive result.

"The preparation isn't different, because the staff have us so well prepared for every game. The anticipation is different, the excitement is different and there's that extra bit of edge to this game, especially for someone like me.

"I'm one of the ones alongside the senior guys, who have been here a long time. And then the academy boys like me, Ollie [Cooper], and Ben [Cabango], let them all know how much it means.

"Last year, I didn't start in the away fixture. And that's something I remember, and I will take that into the game along with all the highs. There's a lot of things I take into this game, and they only motivate me."

Liam Cullen celebration

And Cullen – who has three goals from three south Wales derby starts relishes the feeling of scoring for his lifelong club in the prestigious fixture.

"They definitely mean the most, because this game means the most to me and the fans. There's obviously goals that may have been more important, in terms of where we are in the league table," he added.

"But in terms of feeling, it's definitely up there."
