Liam Cullen | I want to repay the faith the club has shown in me
Liam Cullen wants to repay the faith shown in him by Swansea City as he readies himself for his first game since signing a new contract.
The 25-year-old put pen to paper on a deal through to the summer of 2028, which will see him bring up 21 years in Swansea colours having first joined the club at the age of eight.
The Wales international is delighted to have his future secured, and has his sights set on helping the Swans turn around a tough run in front of goal.
“I think any player that is given a contract it comes with expectations. It’s something I want to enjoy the pressure of and hopefully go and deliver,” said Cullen.
“I think as a forward you are playing in the most pressured part of the pitch, it’s a responsibility I want to have and it’s something I want to try and thrive off. Hopefully I can do that.
“I’ve always said that I want to be the number nine, I want to be in the middle at the top of the pitch.
“I’ve always scored goals through the ages at this club, it’s what got me in the first team in the first place.
“It’s been really frustrating for us over the last few games, but it’s about sticking to what we’re good at. In the games that we haven’t scored we’ve had chances. If we put them away we’d be in a totally different position in the league.”
