Liam Cullen hopes to complete dream week with Euro qualification
Liam Cullen is hoping he can complete a dream few days by helping Wales qualify for Euro 2024.
The Swansea City striker reported for international duty on a high after getting on the scoresheet in Saturday’s 2-0 south Wales derby win over Cardiff City.
He now turns his attention to Wales’ Euro 2024 play-off semi-final against Finland on Thursday night.
Should Rob Page’s team come through that assignment, they will host Poland or Estonia in the final on Tuesday knowing victory would seal a spot at the summer’s finals in Germany.
And Cullen, who won his first cap against Gibraltar at the tail-end of 2023, will give his all to help Wales reach a third major tournament in succession.
“I am keen to try and make my mark, I have been involved in the squads for about a year now, and I got to make my debut and win my first cap against Gibraltar,” he said.
“There are a lot of top players in that squad and that means I might have to be a bit patient but, whether I play or not, I want to go in and contribute as much as I can.
“If that means helping the lads prepare to the very best level they can by giving them a hard time in training, then I’ll do it.
“If it means we get a performance then that’s what we all want.
“If it’s enough for me to get out there on the field then I will be ready to go.
“It’s a week I am really looking forward to it, I have yet to experience a qualification for a major tournament.
“It’s something I really want to be a part of, and I hope I can help us get there."
