Wales kick off their World Cup qualifying campaign against Kazakhstan in Cardiff with Liam Cullen hoping they can carry on the momentum from their Nations League showings.

The Dragons start the road to a hopeful place at the 2026 finals in the United States by hosting the Kazakhs, before making the journey to Skopje to face North Macedonia on Tuesday.

When Craig Bellamy’s side were last in action, against Iceland in November, Cullen contributed two goals and two assists in a 4-1 that saw them top Group B4 and secure promotion to League A.

And Cullen and the rest of the national squad – which also includes fellow Swans Ben Cabango, Ollie Cooper and Joe Allen – are eager to keep building and improving.

“We obviously had a really good Nations League campaign and that finished really positively,” he said.

“We are really excited going into this first set of qualifiers. I hope it will be my first test of a World Cup qualifying campaign.

“We have got a few Swansea boys past and present in there, and I hope we can go there and get minutes and contribute to two good performances and results.

“It’s a big opportunity for everyone involved, everyone would love to play in a major international tournament, so it will be great if we can start well.”
