Lewis samples life under Carvalhal
Aaron Lewis is ready to return to action with Swansea City Under-23s tomorrow after getting a taste of life under Carlos Carvalhal.
The development side play their first game of 2018 when they face Chelsea at Landore (2pm) in Premier League 2.
They go into the match on the back of pre-Christmas victories over Arsenal, Sunderland and Liverpool that have pushed them up to fifth in the division one table.
And Lewis, who trained with the first team under Leon Britton and then Carvalhal over the Christmas period, reckons he can build on the experience in the coming games.
“It was an amazing experience to work with the new manager and see first-hand what he wants to bring to the team,” the 19-year-old said.
“It was an opportunity to take new things on board and hopefully apply them to my game going forward.”
The young Swans beat Chelsea 3-1 away in October thanks to an Oli McBurnie hat-trick.
And they go in search of another victory this weekend as they look to maintain their good form.
“We know we need to continue our good form and raise our game when we play Chelsea tomorrow,” Lewis added.
“January is a busy month for us, so it would be good to kick off the new year in the right way.
“We connected as a team with some excellent performances before the Christmas break.
“There are a big few months coming up in the league and just 10 games left to play.
“We have set goals and standards for ourselves and we need to make sure we continue to deliver those in the coming months.”
