Lewis O'Brien | You can see I am enjoying my football here

Lewis O’Brien has loved his time at Swansea City, and believes his recent run of form and his role within the team are showcasing the strengths in his game.

The midfielder arrived on loan from Nottingham Forest at the end of the January transfer window, and has been among Swansea’s stand-out performers since.

He has been an integral part of a run of 17 points from nine games, with his energy and drive in midfield – with and without the ball – catching the eye.

O’Brien was on the scoresheet in the win over Plymouth and has relished playing in a more advanced role.

And he believes the strong run of form has got Swans supporters excited about watching their team with a big crowd expected for Friday’s visit of Hull, and the away end for the Easter Monday game at QPR already sold out.

“I think it has been a pretty positive time for me since I joined, not just for myself but for the team,” he said.

“We’ve been on a good run, the confidence is high and you can see that on the pitch.

“As a player it takes time to understand the club and the feeling around it, but it’s been great since I have been here and I think you can see in my performances that I am enjoying my football.

“I feel like I can always bring more to the table in terms of goals and assists, and moving into that higher position now is helpful in terms of getting into the box more.

“It’s similar to how I played with Huddersfield, and obviously there are two coaches here who know exactly how I perform to my best.

“One of whom I played with at Huddersfield (Richard Stearman), and the other who coached me there (Mark Fotheringham). They have encouraged me to do what I am best at.

"The fans have been great to me, too. They are behind me and the whole team, we have a big crowd coming on Friday and I believe QPR on Monday is a sell-out.

"It shows that when you are playing good football and get results the fans have something to get behind and it’s always great to play in front of a big crowd.”
