Lewis O’Brien was “buzzing” to have helped Swansea City end their winless run on his debut, and hopes victory over Bristol City gives them something to build on.

The 26-year-old enjoyed an eye-catching bow for his new club following his deadline-day loan move from Nottingham Forest.

He looked to lift the tempo and drive the team forward in possession, whilst also proving a combative presence without the ball.

His showing was exemplified when – with the Swans under pressure late in the second half – he made a block from a Max Bird shot, and sprung to his feet with his fists clenched, roaring in celebration.

“I’m buzzing. The lads dug deep and it’s a result we can only build on from now,” said O’Brien.

“We came into a tough environment, but I think it just shows the lads are still willing to leave 100 per cent out there.

“I just like to put everything on the line for the whole 90 minutes, and making a block, sometimes I do celebrate them more than a goal because it means keeping the team in the game.

“In that moment in time it released a bit of pressure, I don’t think about the celebration it’s just the emotion of the moment sometimes.

“When I came in, the lads were still in positive spirits in the changing room, and now everyone’s obviously buzzing with the win.”

Despite being just days into his time with the Swans, O’Brien already has a chant in his honour – even if it pays homage to his pale complexion and resemblance to a Harry Potter character – and he thanked the Jack Army for their support since his arrival as he eagerly awaits the chance to make his home bow against Sheffield Wednesday.

“It’s a unique chant. To have been here three or four days and already have a chant, it’s top class. The fans were amazing,” he said.

“It’s massive to be able to repay the fans, the money they spend and the effort they make to come to the games. They were definitely in good voice and to put in a performance like that and give them three points is amazing.

“We’ve got another game Wednesday. To be at home in front of all of the fans will be massive, I’m probably not as ready for the quick turnaround yet. So I’ll be in the cryochamber for days before then!”
