‘Let’s relish Emirates experience’
Cameron Toshack has urged Swansea City Under-23s to make the most of the Emirates experience when they face Arsenal in Premier League 2 tonight (7pm).
The development side will have a huge opportunity to challenge for the Division 1 title if they beat the Gunners, who are two points better off than the Swans and level on points with leaders Leicester.
After Arsenal, the Swans’ final league game is against Sunderland at Liberty Stadium later this month.
And Toshack believes the two stadium fixtures are an opportunity for the players to rise to a new challenge.
“Stadium games are huge opportunity for young players,” he said.
“It is not every day that a player will get to experience playing at the Emirates Stadium.
“There are many good professional players that will never get the chance to play at stadiums such as this.
“It is important that our guys realise the opportunity they have to play at an environment like this and relish the Emirates experience.”
An exceptional league record has seen the Swans lose only once in their last 11 outings in Premier League 2.
Meanwhile, Arsenal beat Villarreal’s academy side to progress to the final of the Premier League International Cup on Tuesday.
“We will be tested,” Toshack added. “No games are easy and they are not at the top of the league for no reason.
“They have a lot of good quality, so we must make sure we go out and do the things we know we are good at and rise to the challenge.
“We have produced good results this season. On our day we can challenge anyone and make things difficult. We want to do ourselves justice tonight.”
