Leroy to miss Leicester clash
Leroy Fer will miss Swansea City’s clash with Leicester City this weekend through suspension.
The Dutch international picked up his fifth booking of the season during last Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town, meaning he must now serve a one-match ban.
The good news for boss Paul Clement is that even without Fer, he has a number of strong options in central midfield.
Tom Carroll and club skipper Leon Britton started with Fer in the centre of the pitch against the Terriers, with Sam Clucas and fit-again Ki Sung-Yueng both coming off the bench in that game.
Roque Mesa did not make the 18 for the Huddersfield win, although Clement stressed afterwards that the Spaniard has a big part to play this season.
Renato Sanches, meantime, missed out last weekend with a thigh injury, but the Swans are hopeful that he will be available again for the Leicester game.
Clement’s men will bid to chalk up back-to-back league wins for the first time this season when they host the Foxes on Saturday.
Fer, meantime, will be back in contention when the Swans take on Manchester United in the Carabao Cup next Tuesday.
