Lawrence Vigouroux praises Swansea City's defensive resolve
Lawrence Vigouroux praised Swansea City's approach to their defensive responsibilities after another gritty showing without the ball in victory over Coventry City.
The visitors completely dominated the opening exchanges and took a deserved lead through Liam Cullen’s third goal of the season, before Ollie Cooper doubled their lead after fine build-up play.
Coventry hit back when Jack Rudoni's shot struck Ronald and deflected into the net, but the Swans withstood second-half pressure to secure back-to-back wins.
It was an all-round team effort with the likes of Vigouroux, Ben Cabango, Josh Key and skipper Matt Grimes among those to make key interventions as the Swans further extended an unbeaten run against the Sky Blues that stretches back 43 years.
And Vigouroux praised the efforts of his teammates and credited the players' control and intensity out of possession as key factors in the win.
"I thought we were really good. Coventry are also a good team, in the past couple of years they've had an FA Cup semi-final and a play-off final, that just shows their level," said Vigouroux.
"To come to their ground and get three points is huge and really important. I'm really happy with it.
"We've got such a good defence here, and they make it easy for me. I had to make a number of saves, but it's credit to the players in front of me, they showed great intensity in front of goal.
"They work so hard, and they put their bodies on the line. I'm lucky enough to make the saves they allow me to make.
"To make it back-to-back wins is massive. We were really good in the first half, in the second half we worked so hard to claim the three points."
