Defender Lauren Davies was delighted to get a convincing win on her first start for Swansea City Women as they beat Aberystwyth Town 4-0 away from home.

Having made her debut off the bench in the Genero Adran Trophy semi-final win at Wrexham, Davies started on the left side of defence for the Swans and was an immediate threat, continually finding herself in attacking positions and causing the Aberystwyth defence trouble.

She was also sound defensively as the visitors kept a clean sheet, while Emily Thomas, Chloe Chivers, Aimee Deacon and Taite Trivett.

Davies was happy with how her full debut went, and hopes she can continue to grow into her role across the upcoming fixtures for her side, including the upcoming south Wales derby against Cardiff.

“I’m really over the moon with the result,” said Davies.

“I think all of the girls worked really hard, particularly in the second half where we took our chances really well, and the scoreline and result was really deserved.

“As a defender, I’m obviously really happy with the clean sheet, we defended really well as a unit and that’s reflected in the scoreline.

“I had a few chances in the final third and I think I could maybe have taken them better, but I will learn from that and take it into the next game.

“I’m really excited for the game against Cardiff next, it’s obviously a derby and a really competitive fixture so I can’t wait to be involved in it.

Davies found herself in a number of positions across the 90 minutes, playing in both wing-back roles, as well as in the centre of the defence, having featured in the forward line against Wrexham the week before.

The 18-year-old believes the opportunity to feature in a number of positions is good for her development, and she is happy to help the team in any way she can.

“It’s a really good experience to play in a few different positions,” said Davies.

“It will definitely add to my game and it’s good to be able to give that commitment to the team to be playing all over the pitch.”
