Laudrup: "small details settled derby"
Michael Laudrup says the Welsh derby came down to "small details" after his Swansea side were beaten 1-0 by Cardiff at The Cardiff City Stadium.
A headed goal from Steven Caulker was enough to secure three points for the home side in the Barclays Premier League's first all-Welsh contest.
Michel Vorm was sent off in the 90th minute for bringing down Fraizer Campbell, which capped off a disappointing afternoon for the Swans.
The defeat means Michael Laudrup's side drop to 13th place in the Barclays Premier League, and the Great Dane says his side are disappointed to lose such an important game.
"I think disappointment is the best way to describe how everybody feels right now," said Laudrup. "Losing is always disappointing, but in games like these even more so.
"If you could see the players now, they are all down because, for them, it was a very important game. The players wanted to give everything.
"If you look back at the game, it was more or less what we expected - a tight game with few chances.
I knew they would try to come out and try to intimidate us by putting us under pressure, but I think we looked very comfortable in the first-half.
"We only had a couple of chances, but we kept them from having any chances at all.
"The second half we expected a reaction. They put us under more pressure but without really creating anything.
"My idea was to put some more offensive players on to go for the win, but then they scored and Michu got injured, which was two very bad things for us.
"We felt that they didn't create that much to deserve to win the game, but we know that in games like these it can be a set-piece or an opposition mistake that can win you the game.
"At the end, we had another couple of chances to score, but two good saves from Marshall prevented us from scoring.
"Overall, it just came down to small details. They won the game, so unfortunately, we have to accept that."
Meanwhile, Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay said his side's game plan was initiated perfectly and was delighted with his side's performance.
"I'm delighted for everyone at the football club. I'm delighted with how the players performed from the first to the last minute.
"We were playing against a very good team who can cause teams massive problems.
"We've had a tough three or four weeks to endure, so it was good to put smiles on faces."
