Laudrup rues missed chances
Michael Laudrup says his side were made to pay for missed opportunities as his side were beaten 3-1 by Birmingham City in the Capital One Cup.
The Swans had numerous chances to score in the first-half, with Wilfried Bony looking the most dangerous for the visitors.
Bony and Pozuelo both hit the crossbar before the break - the latter having two other opportunities to give Swansea the lead - but Birmingham returned from the interval the stronger side.
Dan Burn put the visitors ahead with a well-placed header, before Matt Green and Tom Adeyemi extended the home side's advantage.
Bony managed to claw one back for the Swans in the dying seconds, but by then it was too little too late for the cup holders.
"With the number of chances we created, we should have scored more," said the Swansea boss.
"We paid the price of that, because I don't think I would be very wrong when I say we could have been four up at half-time.
"We create a lot of chances every game, but you have to score.
"The first chance they had, they scored. Then for the other two goals, I think there was a slight misunderstanding at the back.
"As I said, we could have scored four, but when you don't, you give them the confidence and belief that they can come back into the game.
"In the end, we lost the game, it's that simple."
The Swans went into tonight's game on the back of a hectic week, which included victories against Valencia and Crystal Palace, while the Swans earned a point at home to Liverpool.
The busy schedule meant that Swansea made ten changes from the weekend's visit to Crystal Palace, and Laudrup insists he doesn't regret the decision.
He said: "Yes, there was ten changes from the last game, but five today were in the starting eleven against Valencia.
"This is not about blaming one, two or three. We created the chances, but didn't score.
"Even if you're dominating, it only takes one chance for them to score."
Meanwhile, Birmingham manager Lee Clark says he was delighted with his side's performance.
"I'm absolutely delighted," said Clark. "To win a game like that, against a side with their quality.
"I said before the game that this was the hardest tie we could've got, outside the so-called top six sides.
"Even though they made changes, I don't think that affected them.
"They have a philosophy that runs through the club that means every player understands their role.
"My players had to work unbelievably hard to achieve the result."
