Kyle Naughton suffers hamstring injury; Ben Cabango out of Wales games
Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper has confirmed Kyle Naughton suffered a hamstring injury against Norwich, and that Ben Cabango will miss Wales’ fixtures during the international break.
Naughton came off at half-time in the 1-0 defeat at Carrow Road, being replaced by Matt Grimes as the Swans made a tactical reshuffle.
But Cooper revealed it was a change that was forced on him after the defender felt a problem with his hamstring.
“Unfortunately, Kyle felt his hamstring and could not carry on,” said Cooper.
“It would have been easy to throw Joel (Latibeaudiere) in, but we felt it would be good if Matt Grimes came on to give us three midfield players and it did not affect us in terms of our in-possession play. But it was a forced change.”
Cabango, meanwhile, suffered a hamstring injury of his own in the warm-up prior to the midweek draw against Brentford.
He did not recover in time to face the Canaries, and Cooper confirmed the centre-back has been withdrawn from the Wales squad for their games against the United States, Republic of Ireland and Finland.
“He is out of the Wales camp, he was not able to recover in time for today,” added Cooper.
“We don’t have a timescale for him yet. We will see how he settles down over the next three or four days.”
