Kyle Naughton set to return after missing Nottingham Forest defeat
Russell Martin expects Kyle Naughton to return to training early next week after the defender missed the home defeat to Nottingham Forest - but is unsure on Ethan Laird's availability.
The centre-back was not part of Martin’s squad for Swansea City’s loss to in-form Forest as he was isolating due to a positive case of covid-19 within his family.
Naughton has been a key member of Martin’s three-man defence this season, with midfielder Flynn Downes taking up his role against Forest.
And the Swans boss confirmed Naughton will be back in plenty of time ahead of next weekend’s trip to Queen’s Park Rangers.
However, he admits it is too soon to evaluate Laird’s thigh injury which saw him replaced just before the half-time whistle.
“We lost a big part of our team in Kyle. He’ll be back early next week, but I’m not sure on Laird," said Martin.
“Ethan was a loss when he came off, but Joel Latibeaudiere is learning a new position.
“We’ve had to shuffle the pack a lot. We got into a good rhythm in terms of team selection, but that’s not been the case recently.”
