Korey Smith | We have to have the right focus and attitude

Korey Smith insists Swansea City will approach their FA Cup third-round tie at Stevenage with the right focus as they look to continue their good form.

The Swans make the trip to the Lamex Stadium looking to extend a sequence of just one defeat in their last eight games.

It’s a run that has seen them climb to second in the Championship table, but knock-out action will be the order of the day as they take on a Stevenage side currently sitting in the lower reaches of League Two.

The Swans will start as heavy favourites, but midfielder Smith knows that counts for nothing on a weekend that has seen so many upsets over the years.

“You have to have the right attitude, and make sure you have the right focus,” said Smith.

“We have shown those qualities over a busy period, but that doesn’t mean that changes because the competition we are playing in has changed.

“I’ve played in cup games where I’ve helped a side cause an upset, and I’ve been on the other side of it which is not a nice place to be.

“When you have put a good run together as a squad, it’s about doing everything you can to make sure that continues, no matter who you play.

“The aim remains the same, let’s go there and look to get the right performance and the right result.”
