King: We want to put it right
Adam King insists Swansea City Under-23s are determined to produce a performance when they face Premier League 2 champions Everton at Landore tonight (7pm).
A disappointing night saw the young Swans lose 2-0 at Leicester City on Monday with the visitors reduced to 10 men following Jack Bainbridge’s sending off.
The defeat ended the under-23s’ three-game unbeaten run in all competitions, with the Swans now ninth in the Division 1 table while the Toffees lie second.
And King, who took on the captain’s armband in the absence of Joe Rodon earlier this week, admits the Swans are determined to recover.
“It is good to have a second game this week because everyone in the team wants to recover from our defeat and put it right,” said the 22-year-old midfielder.
“Monday was a tough game and a hard loss. We stood up well until the goal but the sending off affected us.
“We put in a good shift but could not get a result from our performance, so we want to put it right tonight.
“We have tried to bring the standards that we set last season into this one. We have shown that with some games, but our results have been up and down.
“We know that Everton were champions last season and that they could offer a tougher game tonight but everyone’s looking forward to the challenge.
“We must keep our mindset right and focus on playing our game.
“Landore has always been a place that we know we can go out and express ourselves. We proved that last season and must show that with a performance today.”
Tonight's game against Everton will be streamed LIVE on swanseacity.com from 6:50pm.
Entry to watch the game is FREE, food, drinks and merchandise is available, but there is no parking at the venue.
