Kian Jenkins | You play football for moments like that
Kian Jenkins savoured the moment after his brace helped Swansea City Under-21s reach the Nathaniel MG Cup semi-finals with an emphatic 6-0 victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel.
The 19-year-old had gave the Swans an early lead at the Old Road before the hosts had Morgan Hutin sent off for a bad tackle on Swansea skipper and former Briton Ferry man Mitchell Bates.
The visitors pressed home the numerical advantage, with Ruben Davies and Jenkins scoring in the final minutes of the opening half.
The Swans controlled the game from there, with Davies getting his second and Kristian Fletcher netting a quickfire double in the closing stages.
Jenkins was understandably delighted to get on the scoresheet, and with the performance the young Swans turned in.
"It was a good team performance from the boys. We knew coming here, on a tricky pitch, that they'd make it awkward for us, but we did well to kill that off pretty early on, and we controlled the game from there," said Jenkins.
"It was a bit of relief to get that first goal, because we knew a quick start was necessary. From then, we just played our own game and settled the match down.
"It's always nice to score, let alone two in one evening, as it doesn't happen often. You live for these moments, scoring in an important cup tie.
"I was gutted I couldn't get that hat-trick to be honest, but all the boys chipped in amazingly well and we all got our rewards for a great evening.
"This competition is very different for us. Playing teams we don't usually come up against is always a good test for us, especially when there's a trophy on the line.
"When we found out we were chosen as a wildcard, we set ourselves the goal to go as far as we can, and we would love to win this tournament, and I believe we've shown that we're capable with our performances and confidence."
