Katy Hosford | We need to find a clinical edge and bounce back
Swansea City Women captain Katy Hosford wants her side to find a clinical edge in the final third to help them bounce back from a first defeat of the season at Cardiff Met.
Cardiff Met found themselves ahead in the first half after Ingrid Aadland converted the rebound following a good save by Claire Skinner.
The hosts made it two early in the second half, Ellie Preece tucking into the bottom-right corner to double her side’s lead.
Hosford pulled one back for her side, but Erin Murray added Met’s third late on to secure three points and a 3-1 win.
Swansea captain Hosford has asked her side to be more clinical going forward following the defeat, and felt they didn’t execute their game plan on their travels.
“We are all gutted,” she said.
“It’s frustrating, I think we should have played better, we didn’t play as we planned all week, we’ve worked really hard and we didn’t execute it.
“Obviously, we are all gutted now, but we have to pick ourselves up and go again next week.
“The chances were there and we were creating them, but we aren’t putting them away and at the end of the game it’s cost us, so it’s something we definitely need to improve on.
“We were too slow to react to the first and second ball and that cost us, we spoke about it at half-time, we did it a bit better in the second half but we need to improve on that.
“You can’t take any game for granted and you can tell from the results so far in the league that it’s going to be a tough and competitive season.”
