Katy Hosford praises "special" mentality of Swansea City Women
Swansea City Women’s captain Katy Hosford has praised the work ethic of her side during their impressive run of recent form.
A 3-0 victory over Cardiff Met on Sunday made it 11 wins from 12 games in all competitions with Hosford netting a brace after Robyn Pinder's opener.
Hosford hailed the efforts of her side to continue fighting to earn the three points after the frustration of a goalless first half, and feels the selfless nature of the team has been crucial in their fine sequence of results.
“I’m delighted, I think it was a great team performance against Cardiff Met, especially coming off the back of last week's win against them in the trophy,” said Hosford.
“We get a bit frustrated at times when we are creating chances and they won’t go in, but we reminded each other in the dressing room that we are creating chances and one of them will go in.
"It was just about continuing to do the right things and the goals will come, and that’s what happened in the second half.
“When we get that first goal we tend to settle, we showed the resilience we needed, and we didn’t stop working and that’s something that’s really special about this team.
“Something we are trying to do is get more players into the box, passing the ball around and being unselfish and it is paying off for us.
“It’s been a great start to 2024 and it will only do our confidence good because there have been loads of different scorers.
“The clean sheet is a boost as well, not just for the backline but for the whole team as well, it’s always a target and we’ve done really well with that."
