Katy Hosford and Ellie Lake were delighted to receive accolades at the club’s annual awards dinner at the end of a important season for Swansea City Women.

Captain Hosford collected the Women’s Supporters’ Player of the Season award, as well as the Top Goalscorer prize after finding the net 19 times.

Defender Lake, meanwhile, was named as the Women’s players’ player of the season by her peers at the conclusion of the team’s first season as a semi-professional outfit.

Hosford was surprised to receive the award voted for by the fans and hopes Swans Women can build on the progress they have made this season.

“I’m really shocked to have won supporters’ player of the year,” said Hosford.

“When they read out my name I was so shocked, I looked around the table in disbelief. It means so much to me, I’ve never won this award before and it’s definitely up there with the awards I’ve won over the years.

“With the top goalscorer award, I’m happy to have been able to contribute to the team throughout the year, so I’m really proud.

“It’s been quite a tough year in transition, but the girls have worked really hard and I’m just glad that I could do my part and score the goals for the team.

“Hopefully this season is one that we can build on heading into next year.”

Lake was proud to receive recognition from her teammates, and picked out her goals in key games against Wrexham as her favourite moments of the campaign.

“I’m really shocked and really proud,” said Lake.

“We’ve got some players who have had some great seasons, so to get that award was a real shock for me.

“It means more when it comes from the team, they see what you do in training and in games, so for them to vote for you, I think that makes it the best award really.

“When I look back the goal at the Swansea.com Stadium stands out for me, I never score but I picked my moment scoring at the stadium.

“There was also the goal against Wrexham again at the Racecourse, the last-minute goal to get us a win, I think that was better just because of the moment. It was the last minute of the game and we needed that win.”
