Swansea City 1 Hull City 0
On a cold and wet Bank Holiday afternoon Swansea City held on to secure their fourth consecutive win, and maybe even more impressively their fourth consecutive clean sheet, against Hull City.
Reverting back to the team that beat Plymouth 3-0, Liam Cullen and Jay Fulton dropped back to the bench with Joe Allen and Zan Vipotnik making it in to the starting 11 for the penultimate home game of the season.
With the fans in full voice and the home stands at sold-out capacity, the Swans looked to continue their good recent form and push to finish the season strongly.
In the first half the Swans dominated possession, but they were ultimately left disappointed not to test Hull keeper Ivor Pandur with any of their eight shots.
Their defensive line stood strong though and, despite some moments of slick passing, Hull failed to ever trouble Lawrence Vigouroux with their one solitary shot.
The first real chance of the game came at 20 minutes with Vipotnik just failing to get on the end of Josh Tymon's low cross into the box.
At half-time in the Swansea.com Stadium it was goalless, but the Swans started the second half strongly.
On 49 minutes they were rewarded for their efforts with a penalty, after John Egan was deemed to have used his hands in the box.
Vipotnik stayed calm under pressure to send Pandur the wrong way and coolly slot the ball into the bottom-left corner.
Hull had their own penalty appeal waved away on 56 minutes, and two minutes later looked to change the flow of the game with a triple substitution.
With Fulton replacing Allen in the 63 minute, and Cullen entering the field at 74 minutes for Vipotnik, the Swans looked to close out the game.
Despite a couple of late chances, Hull were found wanting and the final blow for the visitors came when Matt Crooks picked up a second yellow card and was given his marching orders on 90 minutes.
Swansea will now look ahead, with Championship status secured, to two difficult away days in London against QPR and Millwall.
