Josh Tymon praises Swansea City coaching staff after awards win
Josh Tymon paid tribute to Swansea City’s coaching staff after receiving the Best Newcomer award at the club’s annual awards evening.
The left-back has enjoyed an excellent first campaign in Swans colours, having joined from Stoke City on transfer deadline day last summer.
He has become one of Swansea’s most consistent performers, providing defensive solidity while also weighing in with six assists.
Off the pitch he and his partner welcomed daughter Novi to the world earlier this year, and the 24-year-old is loving life in SA1.
After picking up his prize, Tymon chose to deflect any praise of his performances onto head coach Luke Williams and his staff, believing the level of detail in their work with him has helped him find a rich vein of form.
“I think winning the award is just a good way to top off the season,” he said.
“It’s a nice moment for me, but I am not going to take all the credit, there are some incredible coaching staff at this club.
“I’ve never had that experience in terms of some of the one-to-one work before.
“The general feel of all the staff wanting players to do well here, it is amazing as a player coming to this club, and this has helped me massively this season.
“I had a bit of a sticky spell to start, but once I came through that I have never looked back.
“Off the field it has been great too, the arrival of my daughter gives you a whole new perspective on things. She just brightens up my day and she will get to walk out with me at the game on Saturday which is a moment I cannot wait for.
“I think you can feel a positivity around the group, and there is excitement for what is coming.”
