Josh Key | We showed glimpses of what we can do, but we need to do it consistently
Josh Key believes Swansea City’s second-half showing at West Bromwich Albion shows what they are capable of, but admits they have to learn to produce such performances on a more consistent basis.
The Swans lost 1-0 at The Hawthorns in what was truly a game of two very different halves.
The unbeaten hosts had by far the better of the opening period, although they did not get the breakthrough until Jayson Molumby found the bottom corner in stoppage time.
The second half was far better from the visitors, as they created chances to get a leveller and had a penalty shout turned down, against one of the teams fancied for promotion.
But defender Key knows the Swans have to start showing that energy, bravery and intensity more often.
“First half, everyone saw they had a clear gameplan and they came at us. They had a clear gameplan to press high and try and rattle us and I’ve got to say they did that well,” he said.
“Second half we came out really well but I think we need to try and score in that first 20 minutes because we had chances and that could have put the game in our favour.
“The second half I think was our half, and we were disappointed not to get anything from that.
“If we had come in at half-time 0-0, then I think we go on to win that game, but we have to manage the games better and stay switched on for the whole 45 minutes of each half.
“The second half can sum up what we can do. West Brom will be a team right up there this season and we went head to head with them, we have to do that more consistently.”
