Josh Key says he is feeling stronger than ever and is confident Swansea City have a good base to build from.

The defender has enjoyed a good start to the new campaign, with his athleticism and energy down the right catching the eye in the early weeks of the season.

Key, 24, helped the Swans keep a second clean sheet of the season against Norwich last time out, and Luke Williams’ side have the joint-second best defensive record in the Championship during the early part of the 2024-25 campaign.

And the former Exeter City man hopes that solidity bodes well as the Swans prepare to take on Coventry City on Saturday.

“There’s more to come from us. I am thankful for the trust the manager is putting in me to go out there and play and I am enjoying my football,” he said.

“We have had a really good performance against Norwich, and a result that we want to build on.

“I think we are pretty happy with where we are, although there are games we look at and feel we could have had a few more points.

“But I think we have shown there is plenty we can build on and we want to carry that on.”

Key is in his second season with the Swans, and is keen to make up for lost time after injuries impacted his first year in SA1.

“It was frustrating. I had managed to play around 10 to 15 games at the start of the season, you are new to the Championship, you are looking to establish yourself and build momentum, but injuries do happen in football,” added Key.

“I was really annoyed but it gave me time to work on the mental side and I felt I came back stronger from both the injuries I had last season.

“I focused on the work I could put in when recovering, and the mental side of it helped me during those times I could not be on the pitch.

“But I have come back in, had a good pre-season, and I feel strong.

“I am finding the balance in my game between attack and defence, I have players and coaches who are great for me to learn from too.”
