Josh Key | It hurts, but there will be a lot we can take from the performance
Josh Key believes Swansea City will have reasons for encouragement once the sense of disappointment clears following their heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor.
In a game of few clear chances, the visitors saw Liam Cullen’s header cleared off the line by Maxime Esteve, while Joe Allen and Florian Bianchini also had chances.
Lawrence Vigouroux made a tremendous stop to deny CJ Egan-Riley, having earlier denied Josh Brownhill and Luca Koleosho, but the Swans keeper could do nothing to deny Jay Rodriguez from the spot after the officials had belatedly awarded a penalty for handball against Matt Grimes.
Key admitted the result was hard to take but, once the dust settles, there will be plenty the Swans can take forward.
“There are a lot of emotions. We are disappointed, angry and frustrated,” he said.
“Those last-minute decisions are very tough to take when you are on the wrong end of them, particularly when you have put in a good performance.
“But that is football, and we have to deal with it and move on.
“We can’t change the outcome but I felt there were a lot of positives to take from that.
“We take a lot of pride in our defensive record as a team, and again we have limited a team who a lot of people fancy to be competing up the top of the table.
“We should have had a point, and we know we should have taken more points from some of the games before this.
“So, we have to move on and focus on performing consistently.”
