Jon Grey | Jack Evans a calming influence who leads by example
Swansea City Under-23s coach Jon Grey says skipper Jack Evans is a calming influence who leads by example with his performances for the development side.
The young midfielder recently signed a new one-year deal at the club he joined as an eight-year-old, with the option of an additional 12 months.
Evans missed the entire 2018-19 season after being diagnosed with cancer – for which he received successful treatment.
However, the 21-year-old has returned to captain the development side this term – making 17 appearances in all competitions.
The Wales under-21 international also made his first-team debut as a substitute in August’s Carabao Cup victory over Cambridge United at the Liberty.
Evans has led by example for the under-23s with consistently assured performances in the middle of the park, and coach Grey was quick to heap praise on his skipper.
“Jack has got so much ability and potential,” the under-23s coach said.
“He leads by example with his performances every day.
“He covers every blade of grass on the pitch and is a very calming influence on the team.
“If anybody comes in and is having a bad day or not doing things properly, they just need to look at Jack.
“He’s had a bit of bad luck over the past couple of years, but he’s come through that now and is looking stronger every day.”
